Investigation is a defensive skill card that you can use to prevent takeovers by takeover certificates.

However, all takeover skill cards ignore this effect (due to mistranslation, most of these cards should write Steal instead of Takeover).

Of takeover skill cards, Steal Property, Interception, Free For All, Revenge and I'm Taking It can forcibly steal a property with Investigation effect cast on it, and will keep the effect on the stolen property.
Cards like This is MY LAND (takeover effect) and King of Pirates (self-destruction) effect can cancel the effect of Investigation.

Combine this card with a toll boost and you will have a big city that cannot be taken over temporarily.
You can use it to protect a city near the ox, and/or protect your colour monopoly.

As you can only protect one city, the opponent can simply ignore this city and takeover other cities.

kitsuyume believes that the theme song of this card should be "Big Yellow Taxi" by Emily Keener because you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone.
